On Saturday,
My church Stonefields ward had a picnic at Okahu Bay. It started at 11, but we were a little late. We got there just in time to play in the park. It was amazing and the coolest park ever! It even had a zip line. It also had a strong spiderweb. At 12 o'clock it was lunch time. We ate sausages, patties, buns, and chicken nibbles. After we ate we had presents, inside were Christmas lollies.
Then we went back on the playground for 3 hours before we go back home. The last thing I did was to go on the zip line.
I am a learner at Glen Taylor School in Auckland, New Zealand. I am in Room 13 and my teacher is Mrs Fonua.

Museum trip
On Thurday Team 2 saw a lot of things when we went to the museum. When we got there we ate. Well I ate a Nutbar. When we were finished our food we saw I nteresthing things. My group was Team Rocket but I don't new why. But I enjoyed it still. We took a look around the museum. I loved the big bird called the Moa which was the biggest bird in New Zealand and it was 3m tall. First we went upstairs to learn some things up there, and when we were there we learned about a pekapeka which is the bat. The kaka is a parrot and the ruru is an owl. Now the kiwi is a kiwi. This was the song we learned: "Pekapeka kaka ruru kiwi, pekapeka kaka ruru kiwi."
Then it was time to go back so we went back on the bus to class. I felt so happy for me and for team 2.

What makes a kite fly?
We wrote this piece of writing together as a class.
What makes a kite fly?
There are four forces that affect a kite when it is flying. They are gravity, lift, thrust, and drag.
Gravity is the force that keeps us on the ground. The heavier a kite is the harder it is to fly.
Lift is the force pushing the kite off the ground. Lift happens when air moves over the top of the kite at a faster speed than the air that is moving under the bottom of the kite.
The force that makes a kite move through the air is called thrust. Thrust happens with a kite when it is held in one place by its string, while the wind flows around the kite.
As air flows over the kite the wind gets held back a little by the roughness of the fabric. This friction is called drag.

Magical Matariki
What is Matariki?
Matariki is a new year for the Maori and the 7 stars. The 7 stars come back again in late May or early June. It is time to celebrate and it means it's the Maori new year. Have you ever seen the 7 stars in the night sky? They are called the 7 sisters. We celebrate Matariki in lots of different ways, like flying and making kites. When the 7 stars are light and bright we forgive and forget.
